Paper 3: Approaches to Research (20% HL)
How to use this section...
Here are resources that assist you in understanding different topics related to Approaches to Research. It is important to use the stimulus provided in a critical manner, but it is also a good idea to read widely about how both quantitative and qualitative research can be useful in different contexts.
Please remember that there are quite relevant articles on research methodology under Course Related Articles - it's always worth reading about philosophy behind research methods.
Please remember our Google Study Guide - we build this together each year as a course activity, adding resources, definitions, clips, resources and your presentation slides. It's for you to read/revise from. It's particularly useful for refreshing your vocabulary, and for perusing methodologies that might come up as a stimulus in Paper 3. Note all the slides available to you.
The slides below have been used in class as we have prepared each question:
Question 1: Method, sampling, alternate method (all of these will be asked)
Question 2: Ethics (one ethics question will be asked)
Question 3: Generalizability, credibility, bias (one of these will be asked)
