The purpose of diagnosis is to understand if a set of symptoms fit a clinical diagnosis; if this is the case, the aim is to find an appropriate course of treatment.
Finding appropriate treatment options for mental health disorders is a bit like putting a puzzle together. Often, a few treatment options are needed to find the best solution in reducing symptom severity. Combining treatment options is what is called an 'eclectic' approach.
