what are the 'Approaches'?
Behaviour is rarely understood through via one explanation. The Levels of Analysis offer three inter-related lens through which we can understand and discuss mental process and behaviour. There is no competition among the three - they are connected, related and interact in many ways to help produce complex human actions and responses.
Throughout study of the Biological Approach, you will learn about how physiological elements such as the brain, neurochemistry and genetics contribute to behaviour and other internal processes.
Throughout study of the Cognitive Approach, you will learn about how unseen mental processes such as memory can be influenced by physiological, social and cultural factors.
Throughout study of the Sociocultural Approach, you will learn about how culture, the environment, and presence of others can influence how humans behave in individual and social settings.
