Field Experiments
In a field experiment, the IV is manipulated in the ‘field’ - in more natural, realistic setting. There is still an IV and a DV, but they are of a different nature than in a lab experiment.
Task: - please take a few notes on the following: Identify the IV/DV in Pilliavin’s study (summer HW) What makes the field exp method ‘better’ than lab exp, in your opinion? What’s a real limitation to this method? Come up with one research scenario where you feel a field experiment would be suitable. Be prepared to share. When you have done the task above, watch the clip 'The Bystander Effect'. Why is field experiment an appropriate method to investigate 'bystanderism'? |

Correlations Research
Correlation does not imply causation. Spurious correlations help us understand this.
We study this method heavily in the Biological Approach. Please check the Course Packet we used to do so.
